Homemade Dark Chocolate

Serving size: varies (a 2x2 inch square is a good size snack)

  • ½ cup Coconut oil (F)

  • ½ cup unsweetened Cocoa Powder

  • ¼ cup Raw honey or pure maple syrup (C)

  • Dash vanilla extract (optional)

  • Dash of mineralized salt (can sprinkle this on top, if desired)

  • (this picture is topped with coconut flakes)

Stove-top Directions:

  1. Heat coconut oil in microwave (or on stove).

  2. Mix in cocoa powder, honey, vanilla and dash of salt. Stir until smooth. Adjust ingredients to desired taste (I add more cocoa and less sweetener but I like the rich taste).

  3. Spread the mix on parchment paper in a dish with edges, thin it out and freeze it. You can also put into it into muffin tins and freeze, or ice cube trays.

  4. It will melt fast when you go to eat it because coconut oil melts at room temperature. In my house, it rarely lasts long enough to melt anyways :)
